Introducing the Brace Tool Safety Timer

We at Brace Tool Inc. are proud to announce the launch of our newest groundbreaking product, the Brace Tool Safety Timer. Designed to set a new standard in safety measures in the oil industry, the Safety Timer offers a cutting-edge solution for enhanced operational safety.

With its advanced technology and robust construction, the Safety Timer sets a new standard in safety tools. It is engineered to give reliable and efficient control over critical operations, mitigating risks and ensuring the well-being of workers and equipment.

Electronically activate downhole tools

The Brace Tool Safety Timer is used to electronically activate down hole slickline tools. It was primarily designed to be used with the hydraulic Sandline Cutter in place of the mechanical striker or pressure activated top sub. It utilizes Brace Tool's patented technology which ensures that the activation of the tools will only be completed at the correct time in the well bore.

How it works

Brace Tool will set the Safety Timer to the predetermined setting prior to supplying to the customer who will be responsible for installing the tool on the jammed, or bound line. The Safety Timer requires a safety magnet to be installed prior to installation of the battery. After the installation and mounting of the battery and the Safety Timer, the magnet is removed which initiates a timer sequence.

The tool must be lowered into the wellbore to the desired depth before the set time which typically set at 60 minutes. When using the Safety Timer with the Sandline Cutter, a bind should be applied to the line before the timer has finished countdown. The reduction of the weight will indicate a successful cut.

Remove the tool from the wellbore. Note that the batteries are to be disposed of after each trip downhole and that the timer must be reset by Brace Tool after each tool activation. Multiple timers and battery packs will be required for multiple trips downhole.

Safety Features

With every operator's safety in mind, our development and quality assurance team put the Safety Timer through immense quality testing to ensure that the brand new tool will meet and exceed industry standards.

Below are the features of the Brace Tool Safety Timer:

Over Temperature Shutdown

The safety timer includes an overtemperature shutdown up to 125°C (316.4°F) to eliminate untimely activations of the tool due to heat related electronic issues.

The timer sequence will be canceled in case of any electronic fault which prevents any equipment from activating at surface due to any electronic malfunction in the well bore.

Optional Temperature Safety Feature

To ensure that the safety timer does not activate at the surface temperature, the timer includes an optional temperature reading tool that compares the initial surface temperature with the downhole temperature before firing.

Surface Safety Switch

The removable surface safety switch must be attached to the tool before connecting power to the timer. Paired with electrically insulated safety crossovers, this prevents the timer from activating at surface before being put in the well bore.

Preset Timer Delay

The timers are supplied with a preset timer delay displayed on the outside of the tool. Common delay times are 60, 90, or 120 minutes which erases the risk of setting the incorrect time in the field.

A swab rig was dispatched to a producing well that had stopped flowing. After several swabs the well started to show signs of sand in the cups. The rig switched to sand cups and continued to swab, ultimately getting stuck in the hole. The decision was made to cut the ¼” cable with the Brace Tool 90-minute timed cutter.- It worked! - Bullet Wireline
